Water tracing fluorescent dye and oil based fluorescent dye are most common used in the industry. Water tracking dye can be used for water system leaks. We mainly introduce the oil based fluorescent dye. Sunlonge SL3200 is a typical oil based fluorescent dye which can be used to detect the oil leaks in gasoline and diesel engines. This application requires fluorescent dye to the engine oil system and examine the engine with a high intensity UV light.
The procedure is as following:
1.Add fluorescent dye into the engine and let it circulate. Engine oil and dye can be pre-mixed and then add to the engine. Or add the dye into the engine after the oil filled.
2.Scan the system with a high UV intensity flashlight. You can see all the leak sites glow brightly.
The following recommendations are provided as a starting point for typical application. Actual dosage will depend on desired color strength as well as background color of the base material.
Hydraulic & Transmission: Fluids 500 to 2000 ppm
Car Engine Oils: 500 ppm
Diesel Engine Oils: 700 to 2000 ppm.
The fluorescent dye is mixed with a fluid system, eg, oil, fuels, coolants and refrigerants. The equipment is then operated as normal to allow the fluorescent additive to circulate throughout. Inspection under UV blacklight of all external surface, pipework, joints and coils will reveal leaks as a bright fluorescent yellow-green glow. This process can be used for routine quality control or trouble shooting procedures and offers improved probability of fluid leak detection.
